Eve’s Bayou, Kasi Lemmons, talks Mise-En-Scene, the Power of a ‘Great Script’, & more During ARRAY Rebel-A-Thon

Eve’s Bayou is an African American classic about girl-to-womanhood, sisterhood, infidelity, romance, and Black magic. All themes that are recurring constantly in the world, and relatable to most.

Ava DuVernay’s independent film distribution company, ARRAY, held Rebel-A-Thon in honor of Woman’s History Month. For 12 hours, 30 women filmmakers answer inspiring film professionals questions regarding everything to landing your first gig, to script writing.

I had the chance to ask Kasi Lemmons two questions regarding the cinematography of Eve’s Bayou to creating stories with limited access to resources, and connections.
